Tranquil Parenting is seeking 2 Board Members and a Fall Criminal Investigator Intern. Email sonja @ tranquilstudio.org to inquire.

2 Board Members

Tranquil Parenting has two available seats for new board members and is looking to fill them with members who are committed and willing to spend the time to accomplish required tasks. The positions begin beginning May 1st. These positions are 4-year unpaid commitments. The committee meets via online conference for one hour every other month on the third Thursday between 7 and 8 pm.

Job Description

A board member is responsible for working with Executive Director to support and share the company's values, mission, and vision with the community. They advise, recommend, and carry out annual organization, federal, and state compliance tasks during the evaluation process to assess its achievements.

Qualities of an Influential Board

A streamlined structure makes board work easier. Involving board members in activities directly takes advantage of everyone’s unique skills and expertise. A practical set of board members has

  • a clear job description and defined goals
  • A chair who can involve all members in the committee work
  • a sense of being part of the entire board and not working in isolation
  • an understanding of time constraints and deadlines
  • An understanding that it does not make decisions; instead, it advises, recommends, or carries out a task
  • an evaluation process to assess its achievements

Committee Structure

Tranquil Parenting is a small and remarkably cohesive board that needs no committees. Board members manage the workload together as a committee of the whole or delegate tasks to individual board members. This requires effective leadership and commitment from every member.

To apply: Submit a board member cover letter to sonja @ tranquilstudio.org by April 24th with contact information, an opening paragraph explaining your relevance to Tranquil Parenting, previous board experience, and a closing section discussing your goals for the organization.
